The Mackenzie region, with Lake Tekapo at its heart,  is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular places to ski in New Zealand, with the majestic Southern Alps and sparking glacial lakes ever present.

As a stopover while travelling between Christchurch and Queenstown, or a destination itself, the areas in the Mackenzie region provide ski and snowboarding terrain for everyone.

On the Snow 

Three key ski areas in the Mackenzie Region, Roundhill Ski Area, Mt Dobson Ski Area, and Ohau Snow Fields, provide family friendly skiing together with some tremendous off-piste terrain.

Expected Opening Dates

  • Mt Dobson - 6th July 2010

  • Ohau - 26 June 2010

  • Roundhill - 3 July 2010

Or you can tak a cat-skiing trip in the Mackenzie back country or a heliski trip into the heart of the Southern Alps.

Off the Snow

And when you have finished skiing there is a range of other activities - luxuriate in the hot-pools, view the spectacular night sky, try your hand at ice-skating, take in a breath-taking scenic flight...or just sit  back and absorb your majestic surroundings.
