$5M for New Zealand Tourism from Key
Posted on 20 January 2010 at 11:23 AM
To try and increase and attract Australian visitors, six regional groups and a ski marketing group raised funds to help stimulate tourism in New Zealand. This was done through private and local government partnerships.
The breakdown for each region is as follows:
New government funding for regional tourism
$1 million Auckland
$1 million Wellington, Wairarapa, Taranaki, Marlborough
$775,000 Canterbury
$600,000 Rotorua
$463,000 Queenstown, Wanaka
$442,000 Central Park (Rotorua, Taupo, Bay of Plenty, Hawke's Bay, Ruapehu, Coromandel)
$370,000 Ski Tourism
$250,000 Hamilton/Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Dunedin
$100,000 Campaign tracking research
This money will be utilised to help attract New Zealand’s number one tourism market, Australia, which account for over 1 million visitors to the country each year. Campaigns will target the regions diversity and selling points in line with the 100% Pure Campaign.
