LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand (June 21, 2010) – Skiers wanting to travel from Queenstown to the Southern Lakes’ largest ski area, Treble Cone which overlooks Lake Wanaka, can now do so in the most spectacular way possible, on a scenic flight over the foothills of the Southern Alps.

The new daily service by Glenorchy Air departs from Queenstown Airport, flies past Coronet Peak, Arrowtown and the historic Macetown area to land in the Matukituki Valley at the base of Treble Cone. Here clients are picked up by the ski field shuttle for a day’s skiing or snowboarding on Treble Cone’s legendary off-piste and freeride terrain before flying back to Queenstown.

With a journey time of just 15 minutes and pick-up/drop-off at all Queenstown accommodation, skiing in style at Treble Cone has never been easier. Return flights cost NZ$209 per person and include all transfers as well as a Treble Cone lift pass (minimum numbers apply).

Treble Cone also offers all visitors a free shuttle up the access road. With multiple departures throughout the day it’s the perfect way to keep the alpine air clean and green and reduce the impact on the environment.

Treble Cone Ski Area is scheduled to open this Thursday, 24 June to 3 October 2010.
