Supreme ski & snowboard facilities

Over 60 years of passion for snowsports and a commitment to quality have created a much loved ski area at Coronet Peak, whilst a multi-million dollar makeover in recent years has elevated this mountain to true world class status.

Family Friendly Ski Resort

The final piece of a 5 year capital improvement plan falls into place in 2010 with the Meadows double chairlift being replaced with a high-speed, family-friendly quad, improving the learning experience for beginners and novices.  Parents of young children will be especially impressed with the loading carpet, automated safety bar mechanism and “kid stop” feature designed to prevent smaller people from sliding out from under the safety bar.

New radio frequency ID lift passes make access to Coronet Peak quicker and easier than ever before. With self-service kiosks at various locations on the mountain and an easy-to-use online store, this system is the ski lift pass of the future.

A stunning base lodge, new in 2008, with superb facilities, magnificent views and a massive deck, ensures Coronet Peak is the South Island’s favourite social winter venue.

Events at Coronet Peak

From early July until late September, the day starts early at this sophisticated mountain resort with First Tracks from 8am and on weekends finishes late with Night Skiing on Fridays and Saturdays until 9pm.

A social and fun venue with regular live music and a range of world-class events, Coronet Peak is home to FIS ski racing and the annual American Express Queenstown Winter Festival. Check out the events section for dates and details.

Location and shuttle information from Queenstown

Coronet Peak is an easy 20 minute drive from Queenstown via sealed roads. There is plenty of free parking available and a regular, free car park shuttle service that will deliver you from your car to right outside the base building.

Alternatively you may wish to let the NZSki Snowline do the driving for you, and it’s the most cost effective transport option in town. Regular coaches (every 15mins in high season) depart from the Queenstown Snow Centre and make stops at selected Queenstown accommodation providers along the way.

Ski and snowboard lessons

Coronet Peak has a world-class Snowsports School catering for skiers and snowboarders of all ages and ability levels. Those with very young children can enrol them in the fully licensed Skiwiland Early Learning Centre, accommodating children from three months to five years of age. From Skiwiland children graduate to a variety of programmes suited to all ages and abilities up to 15 years. There is also a wide selection of programmes for adults to choose from including group lessons as well as specialist training programmes. Or if you prefer, you can take a private lesson, catering for all ages and ability levels.

Rental equipment

Coronet Peak has a fully stocked on-mountain rental department and a team of well trained staff on hand to assist you in finding the right gear. You can rent skis, snowboards, boots, clothing and helmets, and the on-site technicians keep the equipment in good shape to ensure you have the best time possible on the slopes. The beauty about renting on the hill is that you can swap your gear at any time, or if you find something’s not quite right, it can be changed on the spot saving you a trip back to town. You can also store your gear overnight if you’ve hired for two or more days.

Coronet Peak Accommodation
