Coronet Peak
Over 60 years of passion for snow sports have created a much loved ski area at Coronet Peak, whilst a multi-million dollar makeover in recent years has elevated this mountain to true international status.
Coronet Peak is scheduled to be the first ski area in New Zealand to open on 9th June 2012 - along with sister area Mt Hutt, in Canterbury.
Just 20 minutes drive - on a paved road- from central Queenstown, Coronet Peak has modern lifts and state-of-the-art snowmaking offering premium skiing and riding for all levels.
The day starts early with First Tracks from 8am, and on weekends finishes late with Night Skiing on Fridays and Saturdays until 9pm.
A stunning base lodge with superb facilities, magnificent views and a massive deck, Coronet Peak is the South Island’s favourite social winter venue.
Transportation:
|
Relax and enjoy the scenic journey to and from Coronet Peak aboard one of NZSki’s dedicated shuttles. NZSki Snowline provides return trips to the slopes every day of the season (weather & conditions permitting) during hours of operation giving you a comfortable & safe alternative for getting to the snow. No need to bother with chains or road conditions, rather you can sit back and rest up in preparation for your active day ahead and enjoy the incredible views. |
Ski and Snowboard Lessons:
The ski and snowboard instructors at Coronet Peak are some of the best skiers and riders in New Zealand. Not only do they travel from all four corners of the planet, they instruct and train all year to keep up with the latest styles and techniques.
The Snowsports School's emphasis is on fun learning with products to suit everyone of all ages and all abilities. Whether you’re new to skiing or snowboarding or an expert looking to work on improving your technique, you can get the tips, pointers and skills to progress to the next level in a fun and safe environment either in a group or a private lesson.
Rental Equipment:
Why lug that gear around if you don't have to? Everything you need is right on the mountain. The Coronet Peak rental department stocks the latest gear, from clothing to equipment, and has one of the largest and most current ranges of quality brands such as K2, Salomon and Burton allowing you a choice of fit and feel.
Carving skis make up the majority of the recreational range and a selection of other ski options are available through the performance line. Snowboards come with freestyle strap-in bindings and when you rent on the mountain if you want to swap, exchange, upgrade or find something’s not quite right, it can be taken care of on the spot. If you’re feeling like a change you can ski in the morning then switch to snowboarding in the afternoon at no extra charge.
The on-mountain rental department offers free overnight storage to all hirers and there’s the added flexibility of returning your rental equipment to Coronet Peak, The Remarkables or the Queenstown Snow Centre, irrespective of where you picked it up. Please note Coronet Peak doesn’t rent gloves, hats or goggles.
