At 2086m Mt Hutt has one of the largest vertical drops in the South Island and the greatest variety of terrain ranging from long, super wide groomed runs to double black diamond chutes.

Nearby Methven provides the closest accommodation when skiing at Mt Hutt. There are plenty of choices and it is a fun atmosphere. As with most New Zealand ski areas there isn't accommodation on the slopes at Mt Hutt.
There are great options for letting the professionals whisk you to the top of Mt Hutt. There are transport services from Methven and Ashburton during the season.

Everything you need is on the mountain. Mt Hutt uses the Head BYS ski fitting system, designed to reduce the amount of time taken to fit boots and skis allowing you maximum time on the slopes. Snowboards come with freestyle strap-in bindings and when you rent on the mountain if you want to swap, exchange, upgrade or find something’s not quite it can be taken care of on the spot. The on-mountain rental department also offers free overnight storage to all hirers.
Mt Hutt also offers a town rental service, meaning you can avoid the queues and get fitted with your skis or snowboards in Methven the night before. Visit the Mt Hutt Snow Centre between 7.15am - 11am and 2pm - 5.45pm 7days a week, get fitted with all your equipment and collect it the next day from the mountain. You can also purchase your lift passes and book lessons at this time too.
