Christchurch city is the gateway to the Canterbury region and is well on the way to a vibrant recovery, following earthquakes in 2010-2011.   Christchurch is at the top of the list of ‘Destinations on the Rise’, according to Travellers’ Choice of Destinations by Trip Advisor.

Surrounding Christchurch, are the Canterbury Plains featuring the alpine village of Methven.  Only one hour from Christchurch, Methven is the gateway to Mt Hutt ski area.  Methven and Mt Hutt offer unbeatable value for family ski holidays with their Kids 4 Free deal for kids aged 10 and under, when accompanied by a paying adult.

Porters ski area, nestled in the spectacular Craigieburn Range, is easily accessible from either a base in Methven or Christchurch.

Continue south, hugging the inspiring Southern Alps and soon the vast open wilderness of the Mackenzie region reveals itself, home to three boutique ski areas: Mt Dobson, Roundhill and Ohau.
